We develop innovative and culturally compassionate lifelong learners through international studies. Our students gain global awareness in an internationally enriched academic environment. Students are involved in project-based learning that fosters collaboration and discovery of global cultures.

- Our International Studies Showcase include performances written and produced by students. Students bring notable global figures to life through an interactive museum.
- We are a host site for City Year, which offers mentoring, tutoring and enrichment opportunities for students.
- Two top-three finishes at state competition as a National Junior Beta School of Distinction.

- Global awareness is developed as students complete an in-depth exploration of various countries. Each grade level learns about the customs, cultures and languages of a specific country.
- Inquiry-based lessons assist in developing student research and communication skills.
- Our library features an International Library Center, providing students tools to sharpen their research skills.
- We offer C.L.U.E. for academically gifted students.

Computer Science with Code.org
Code.org® is a non-profit dedicated to expanding participation in computer science by making it available in more schools, and increasing participation by women and underrepresented students of color. Computer science and computer programming should be part of the core curriculum in education, alongside other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses, such as biology, physics, chemistry and algebra.

Penmanship
Penmanship is offered currently to second graders that need additional assistance in handwriting.

Piano
Piano raises Math scores with an emphasis on learning fractions better. After learning eighth, quarter, half and whole notes, second and third graders scored 100% higher than their peers who were taight fractions using traditional methods. ~Neurological Research

Speech Therapy
Speech therapy techniques are used to improve communication. These include articulation therapy, language intervention activities, and others depending on the type of speech or language disorder.

C.L.U.E.
CLUE (Creative Learning in a Unique Environment) is an education program designed to meet the needs of academically talented and gifted students in the Shelby County Schools. The curriculum incorporates both group and individual strategies focusing on creative thinking, critical thinking, communication, leadership, group dynamics, and problem solving.
