  • What is ESL?  English as a Second Language (ESL) is an instructional program for students whose dominant language is not English. The purpose of the program is to increase the English language proficiency of eligible students so that they can attain academic standards and achieve success in the classroom. ESL students receive instruction from a certified ESL teacher throughout the week to help them with their language growth.

At Cordova Elementary, our ESL population includes a diverse population of students from Venezuela, Mexico, Afghanistan, Honduras, Morocco, Palestine,Yemen, Pakistan, Memphis, Kenya, Vietnam, etc. We seek to assist all ESL students through an enriching curriculum and language supports.
