Named after G. P. Hamilton, author of The Bright Side of Memphis and principal of Kortrecht (the first public high school for Blacks in Memphis), Hamilton K-8 sits in the heart of the 38106 community - a community rich in history and tradition. For many decades, Hamilton has fervently educated the children of South Memphis, producing well-rounded citizens like Former House of Representative Lois Deberry, Broadway Actress Adriane Lenox, and Memphis Music Legend Carla Thomas. Hamilton's steadfastness to teaching and learning has yielded extraordinary minds who have gone on and will go on to make many achievements in their personal and professional lives as well as their local, national, and global communities. That Wildcat Pride runs deep in the many administrators, educators, students, and alumni who call Hamilton their school home. Join us and be part of our history!
