Hello!  I am Mrs. Mayes, and this will be my 17th year at Lucy Elementary.  I am the Orff Music Teacher and Choir Director.  I hold a Bachelor's of Music from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and have achieved my national certification for Orff-Schulwerk from the University of Memphis, completing Levels I-III plus Master Class.  

I am a passionate music educator who loves what I do and I am involved in the music community.  This year is going to be a great year filled with music, dance, and performance.  I cannot wait to create wonderful music experiences for all my Lucy Eagles, big and small.  

The Lucy music room is a place of exploration and creation.  We sing, dance, and play the day away learning all about music and how it relates to our world.  Exploring cultures, genres, and many creative music techniques happens at all levels of music. Whether we are diving into a new piece of music or creating our own, Lucy music students are engaged in high-level music instruction every class.
