Grade 9 Entry Requirements
Students are required to enroll in the program at the start of 9th grade and fulfill the following entrance criteria:
- Achieve Met/Exceeded Expectations on the TCAP Exam for both English Language Arts and Mathematics, or
- Achieve Met/Exceeded Expectations in one subject and Approaching Expectations in the other on the TCAP Exam.
- Maintain a minimum average of 75 in all courses during the 3rd and 4th quarters of 7th grade, with no failing grades.
- Maintain a minimum average of 75 in all courses during the 1st and 2nd quarters of 8th grade, with no failing grades.
In addition to a completed application, the following components are considered in the overall assessment for admission into the program.
- Teacher Recommendations
- School Records
- Report Cards for 7th and 8th Grade
- Discipline Record
- Attendance Record
- Transcript (if applicable)
- Student Assessment and/or Writing Task
- Student and Parent Interview
Step 1: Gather Your Required Documents.
- Report Cards: Grades 7th and 8th
- Current discipline record (Both Log Entry and Incident Reports).
- Current attendance record
- Previous school year TCAP Scores
- ACT Scores (optional)
Step 2: Complete the MSCS Online Choice Transfer Application
- Click this link to apply. Choice Transfer Application
- Follow these steps:

- Go to the column titled, 2025-26 Choice Transfer Application Facts.
- Click Apply Here
- Select "My child is NOT zoned for or on an approved transfer to the school I am requesting"
- Complete the Application
- Choose Medical District High School as a Choice School
- Upload required documents within the General Choice Application (Note: Once you submit, you will not be able to go back and upload any documents.
Step 3: Recommendation Form
- Copy the recommendation link and email it to a current teacher and current school principal/administrator or counselor.

Step 4: Student Assessment Scheduled
Step 5: Student and Parent Interview Scheduled
All necessary documents must be uploaded within the application upon its completion; failure to do so will render the student ineligible for the assessment and interview. It is the responsibility of the parent to provide the recommendation form link to the current school and ensure that all required documents are submitted.
Next Steps
- Upon processing and reviewing your completed application, you will receive an email invitation for an assessment and interview. Kindly check your email frequently.
- Admission decisions will be expedited, and a formal letter will notify you of your admission status. Decisions will not be communicated via telephone.
